This course prepares participants ages 11-16 to safely provide care for infants and children. Learn important skills like diapering, feeding, and holding children. In addition, students will learn how to react to an emergency situation, such as choking, fire and water emergencies. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate from the American Red Cross which is valid for 10 years (this course does not include CPR/First Aid/AED certification). Parents:  It is vital that your student arrive on time for class.  Due to late arrivals, students have fallen short of their 30 hours of class time and must make up the time.  Because the State of Maine requires 30 hours of class time, if your student arrives late, they will be turned away, and a charge will apply (below) for the class to be made up.  It is very important that your student arrives on time.  Unfortunately, we cannot make any exceptions.  Thank you for your understanding.

**Please Note: A make-up fee applies to all missed classes and driving sessions. ** 

Class and Driving Makeup Fees:

  • Classroom: $40/hr
  • Driving: $80/hr

Please bring a birth certificate or passport to the first class and a pen to every class. Parents/Guardians must attend the last 45 minutes of the first class and participate in a ride-along with their child, which will be scheduled by the instructor and the parent or legal guardian.

 Are you between the ages of 15 and 19 and want your State of Maine permit to prepare for your driving exam? We offer driver education courses to help build strong, safe, and confident drivers. Students are awarded an instructional permit upon successfully completing the course with a grade of 80 percent or better and completing the required hours of instruction. The total hours of instruction are 40; 30 are in the classroom, and 10 are behind the wheel. A full payment of $575 is due at the time of registration. If a student withdraws from the course, $75 is withheld from the refund to cover program costs. Only employee discounts for this class. Please call Merrymeeting to register by phone if you are employed by MSAD 75, RSU 1, Brunswick, or Wiscasset school departments. Weaving an Amulet

The amulet is a whimsical and creative woven pouch that can be worn like a necklace to hold our personal magic, innermost thoughts and small objects that hold particular meaning for us, allowing us to call in a particular intention in our lives. Amulet weaving may well be one of the most fun and creative weavings done on the 7-stick journey loom. Materials Fee: $25, includes the use of a Loom and tool kit during class time, warp threads, weft yarn, beads and other embellishments, as well as all written materials and handouts. This is a 1-night class. Tea and snacks provided.
