In this two week workshop, we will explore two-dimensional needle-felting techniques to create fiber tapestries. Students will learn how to build images with wool while focusing on color usage and basic drawing techniques. Students may also incorporate other media, such as embroidery, if desired. No experience is required! Needle-felting materials and tools will be provided and are included in the price of the course.

Loneliness and social isolation in older adults is a serious public health risk that affects a significant number of people in the US, putting them at risk for dementia and other serious conditions. For this reason, Tony Dancer, under his TDF program, has created the “Young at Heart Fiesta” Latin Fusion dance class program with low impact, low-volume music to protect hearing, easy steps to follow and lots of laughter. This program is offered free of charge with Tony Dancer, plus once a month potlucks! Adults with strong social relationships have a lower risk of major health problems, such as depression, high blood pressure, and an unhealthy body mass index. *Program is for individuals 70+ only.

This all-levels class explores botanical illustration with watercolor, pen and ink. Students will learn principles of scientific illustration through painting subjects ranging from wildflowers to fish, focusing on observational drawing and precision watercolor painting techniques. Students can either buy themselves the required materials or they can buy material kits from the Mix, an art store in Brunswick.
