Merrymeeting Youth Summer Program Staff
Our staff members are year-round employees of Merrymeeting Adult Education and have passed all MSAD #75 hiring guidelines (fingerprinting, background checks) and have recently completed Red Cross certification in CPR, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and Emergency First Aid Training.
Starts August 10th • Meets Monday – Friday, 10am to 3pm
Starts July 14th • Meets Tuesday to Thursday, 9am to 2pm
Let’s Make it up Improv Summer Camp
This week-long day camp will use your child’s imagination, focus and energy to create a one act play from the ground up! We will practice theater exercises and develop characters, then we will weave together an improvised story that will be rehearsed and performed on the final day. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to practice developing their creativity while working together cooperatively with others. Elise Voigt is an actor and theater educator with over 20 years of experience and loves sharing her skills and knowledge with adults and children as a journey of self-discovery and self-renewal. No experience necessary! Come out and Play! For ages 9-14.
Fishing Adventure Camp
Are you ready to go fishing? Merrymeeting FISHING ADVENTURE CAMP is a full 3-day freshwater fishing program for beginner or experienced anglers, grades 3 to 6. It is fun, safe and educational. Lifelong fisherman and college professor Martin Samelson will be there to identify target species (Bass, Trout, Sunfish, Pickerel and Perch), help anglers match their bait and tackle to their target species, and encourage ”Catch & Release” fishing to be mindful of Maine’s natural marine resources. Info sheet regarding equipment/materials will be provided. *Pickup & Drop-off will be at pre-determined fishing spots. You will receive directions to the fishing spots closer to the camp dates.

World Builders Camp: Design Your Own Universe
Every epic story starts with an amazing world! In this camp, you’ll become a world-builder – creating your own realms from scratch. Design detailed maps, invent unique cultures, and develop the history that makes your universe feel real. Through hands-on projects mixing storytelling, art, and digital tools, you’ll build immersive worlds for your own stories, games, comics, or just for fun. Whether you’re into fantasy kingdoms, futuristic cities, or mysterious magical realms, you’ll leave with the skills to bring any world you imagine to life! Perfect for creative minds who love to imagine, design, and tell stories.
Summer Animation Camp
Come join us for a week of Animation! Bring your imagination to life with traditional frame by frame animation alongside cutting edge digital animation software. Learn from professional new media artist and educator Andrew Elijah Edwards and create your own custom animation project from start to finish while playing with the artform. Discover and explore the fundamental concepts behind professional animation techniques and explore the medium of moving images in this week long adventure!! ***Ages 13-17.

Summer Art Camp: A Multimedia Experience
Get ready for the most epic summer art camp ever in 2026 with Shirley Anderson, who’s basically a kid with a giant art supply closet. We’ve got a masterpiece lineup for artsy projects to keep the mini-me’s entertained and engaged all week. Does your school have art projects that involve getting messy with air dry clay, working with tumbled pottery and sea glass and throwing in a little string art! Think mod podge cup- string lights and the most epic pet portrait painting party ever! Buckle up for a week of paint, nails and glue – oh my! Ages 10-14.
Summer Art Camp: Let’s Paint a Mural
Work together as a team to conceive, plan, and paint an acrylic mural inside one of the classrooms at Merrymeeting Adult Ed. Build your art skills, learn the process of mural-making and be a part of creating a long-lasting artwork that will be seen by countless visitors to the building. Previous painting experience is a bonus but not required. Ages 11-14.
