Next session: September 14th to October 12th, 2026

Don’t miss this opportunity to get outside with your fellow artists and enjoy fall colors as we work en plein air across midcoast Maine. You may work in any media you prefer. There will be a mix of oil, acrylic, and pastel painters; watercolor, gouache and ink sketchbook artists, and more. Last year the weather held up through November, and we had a wonderful time enjoying and capturing the fall colors. Register for one or both sessions. Artists of all experience and confidence levels are welcome. If you need extra one-on-one instruction while working in the field, it’s recommended that you set up within eye shot of the instructor so he can get to you easily should you need help. We also found at certain sites that staying in touch via phone and text was a good way to summon Ed to where you are working. Meet up locations will be emailed to everyone prior to each class. Next session: September 23rd to October 21st, 2026

Whether you are new to the world of printmaking, or an experienced printmaker, you will benefit from working alongside others in an experimental, supportive and convivial studio environment. You will have access to a small roller press and will explore various other printmaking tools and styles. This class will focus on relief printmaking techniques including block, linocut, and Collagraph printmaking. Don’t worry about a materials list, there are usually enough supplies for you to try out various techniques before deciding on a direction for your work. You will use your sketchbook to develop ideas for your prints, then decide which technique best suits your images. If you lack confidence, the Instructor and your studio mates will work with you to develop projects that will both help you learn the basics while also giving you freedom to express yourself in a way that’s meaningful to you.
